Jasmine Frost had imagined the first day at her new job quite differently. How on earth could she have known the arrogant billionaire Cole Ward would insist on her leading the renovations of his mansion?
To oversee the renovations, Jasmine moves in with Cole. Turns out, the mansion needs more than a little makeover, and she is stuck with that growly bear of a man for weeks. He doesn’t even like her French bulldog—who the hell doesn’t like puppies?
Still, they can’t withstand the strong attraction between them. The dark look in his eyes is intriguing and Jasmine can’t keep herself from digging into his past. But what if she doesn’t like what she finds?
Standalone Romance │ No cheating but bad language, explicit scenes, and a happily ever after.
Storming into the emergency room in the middle of a Friday night really hadn´t been a thing Jasmine Frost had yearned for all day long.
Love stories touch readers in a unique way – they can make your heart skip a beat or break into a thousand pieces. Some love stories`arrows on the other hand, seem to miss their target and fly by, without affecting the reader at all.
This is what „Good Grief“ is all about.
When I first saw the novel´s cover, I was stunned. A cute puppy, matching colors and a wonderful atmosphere. What else would it need for you to read a romance novel?
A puppy, a millionaire and a girl in need. This is what the most famous works are made of – aren´t they?
When I started reading, I felt like being transported into a novel, I couldn´t quite put my finger on. It seemed curiously familiar because, the further I read, the more it reminded me of a mixture of famous love stories without introducing interesting elements. This is why I had a hard time losing myself in the book.
Jasmine is a nice and rather shy woman who is looking for her place in this world. This is why I felt sympathetic towards her all through the book. However, Cole is not the man I would like to spend time with. Most of the time, he seems agitated and reluctant to make an effort in order to please anyone – he is selfish. But when Jasmine falls in love with him nevertheless, he has to change of course. But his past can´t be changed.
As usual, a young woman falls in love with a mysterious and possibly dangerous man. But as you might have already noticed – there is a happy ending at the end of the tunnel, just waiting to put a smile on your face.
Telling a convincing love story is hard – there´s no denying it. But Vera Elle Unita seems to miss all the triggers you have to pull, to move your reader. The sentences are uncommonly long and the emotion seems to get lost along the way. The English seems forced and, in a way I can´t quite explain, anomalous.
Please, don´t get me wrong. This novel might convince a lot of you. But sadly, not me.
Being Vera Elle Unita´s first novel, I´m looking forward to reading her future works.
„Good Grief“ is a romance novel with lots of weak spots, if you ask me. I´m looking forward to reading your reviews on Vera Ella Unita´s novel.
